On 21 November, 2016 at the SE “Zorya”-“Mashproekt” test bench, the initial trial phase of the pilot sample of a new 32MW Gas Turbine Engine was commenced. The Engine was developed by the R&D Center “Mashproekt” and manufactured at SE “Zorya”-“Mashproekt” production facilities.
A special test cell was equipped for such trials performance. The Engine will undergo the complex of tests aimed at proving the serviceability of the newly designed components, at checking of strength characteristics, thermal state, testing of new materials, as well as obtaining the operating life that is indicative of the product reliability.
The new GTE is intended for operation as a drive of gas compressor meant for compressor stations of main gas pipelines. In addition to that, the 32MW Engine is a so-called baseline i.e. the basic development which will have a few modifications for different applications, including marine and power generation versions. Now it can be seen that 32MW Engine is an engine of a new integrated development.
The design efficiency of the Engine comes to about 38.4%, which exceeds by 2.5% the efficiency of 25MW engines of “Zorya”-“Mashproekt” make. Increase in efficiency was achieved owing to innovative technologies and high efficiency of the components, whose characteristics were subjected to subassembly tests conducted throughout the year of 2016.
The GTE is equipped with the automatic control system (ACS) designed and manufactured by “Zorya”-“Mashproekt”.
The new Engine will add, in terms of quality, to the power range of the products manufactured by “Zorya”-“Mashproekt”. The Enterprise is presently involved in mass production of the Gas Turbine Engines meant for marine and general-purpose industrial application, ranging from 3 to 25 MW. Each type of GTE has a few versions.
The development and production of the 32MW Engine are made at the Company’s own costs and expenses.
